Reference Services:
Patrons of all ages may take advantage of the library's information specialists to get answers to a variety of questions, whether they are for work, school or personal interest:

Continuing Education:
The Library offers a variety of educational, and informational programs throughout the year for all patrons. Past topics have included crafts, financial info, gardening, local history, sign language, storytimes and much more. For a list of our current offerings see our Event Calendar.
Outreach Services:
Any Cumberland resident not able to get to the library is eligible for our homebound service. Books and other materials can be delivered every three weeks at no charge. This service is overseen by our Outreach Services Coordinator, Katie Jablonski. NOTE: This service is available for anyone on a regular, permanent basis or for the short-term as someone rehabilitates. Proctoring Services:
Library staff are available to proctor exams for a fee of $25.00 per hour. The fee covers obtaining the exam papers, copies, certifying identity and submission of exam to the proper institution. The service is limited to the hours the library is open and subject to staff availability. A minimum of two weeks notice is required before any test will be proctored. Notary Public Service:
The Library has a certified Notary Public on staff. It is suggested that persons interested in this service call 401-333-2552 ext. 5 for availability. There is a suggested fee of $2.00 per item for this service.
Copy Machines:
The Library has a vend copy machine in the Reference Department on the second floor. Copies are $.15 each and the machine takes quarters, dimes and nickels. The machine holds both 8.5" x 11" and 8.5" x 14" paper.
Color copiers:
The Library also has a color copier in the Reference Department on the second floor and in the Children's Department on the first floor. Copies are $.50 each.
Typewriter:
A typewriter is available in one of the library's second floor Quiet Study Rooms.
Word Processing/Internet Computers for Children:
The Children's Room on the first floor has 7 computers with printers that have Internet access and Microsoft Office. Users may sign in for 1/2 hour time slots. Black & White printouts are $.15 per page; color printouts are $.50 per page, including mistakes, payable at the Print Station or Children's Information Desk. An additional computer is available for searching the online catalog.
Fax services:
Patrons may send outgoing faxes through our Reference Department. Due to privacy concerns the Library cannot accept incoming faxes for patrons.
WiFi Access:
Bring in your laptop or mobile device and use our fast Internet connection for free! The Library has hotspots on both the first and second floors and in all of our meeting rooms.
Internet/Word Processing Computers for Adults:
The Second Floor of the Library has 12 computers for Internet access and Microsoft Office which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Access. Computers are available from the time the library opens until 15 minutes before closing. Users may sign up for 1-hour time slots, and may stay on longer if no one is waiting. Black & White printouts are $.15 per page; color printouts are $.50 per page, including mistakes, payable at the Reference Desk. Three additional computers are available for quick access and there are three Library Catalog only computers.
Cloud Printing: ***** NOT AVAILABLE AT THE PRESENT TIME*****
The Library's Web Printing service allows patrons to print virtually any document or web page from their Internet connected PC to one of our library printers. Just visit the Cloud Printing homepage from your device and follow the onscreen directions. Printouts may be paid for at the Reference Desk on the Second Floor.
Meeting Rooms:
Local (Cumberland) community non-profit organizations may hold free and open meetings in the Library during regular Library hours, provided the facilities are available. The Library has several meeting rooms with capacities ranging from 10 - 220. Please read the Library's Meeting Room Policy for further information. Fill out a Meeting Room Request form to reserve a room. It is important to contact the Library at 401-333-2552 ext.5 to check on availability and eligibility or you may email the Library at lynnedt@cumberlandlibrary.org.
Quiet Study Rooms:
The library has 3 Quiet Study Rooms available on the second floor. Reservations for a room may be made by calling the Reference Desk at 401-333-2552 ext. 2. The Study Rooms are free for patron use, including use by tutors. Please see the full Study Room policy for details.
Exhibits and Displays:
Located in the front lobby area, the Library's Adult Display Cases are available for special collections from local residents or community organizations. Exhibits are displayed for one month. Please call 401-333-2552 x2 for further information. The Library also has a Hanging Art Gallery in the Hayden Meeting Center.
