The Year My Sister Got Lucky by Aimee Friedman

Katya, “Katie” for short is having a tough time adjusting to high school.  Her family has left New York City and moved to a small suburb in New York state, Fir Lake.  The novel follows Katie as she works to adjust to her new life.  Although, Katie quickly finds out that starting over is not easy.  She  has left her beloved ballet studio behind, and it seems her sister has found new friends without her.  Will triumph come from Katie’s stuggle?

I enjoyed this book because of its moral lesson.  It taught readers that sisterhood is often stronger than friendship.
