Tightrope by Gillian Cross

Ashley has a dangerous secret. Nobody knows about her best friend, Vikki, what truly sets Ashley apart from everyone else. Or so she thought. Ashley suddenly begins to get anonymous messages. In Ashley’s neighborhood, contacting the police can be dangerous, especially since she’s not what you’d call an “innocent victim.” Her only other option is to go to her local gang leader, Eddie Beale, who might have an agenda of his own. This book was a great thriller and taught some valuable lessons about trust and vigilance.
