Thawn Harris will be at the Cumberland Public Library on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. Storyteller Thawn Harris shares his Narragansett culture through traditional song, dance and legends. Following in the traditions of his ancestors, Thawn plays the cedar flute and hand-drum, is a social dancer and singer, as well as a former world champion of the Eastern War Dance. This 45 minute program is part of the 2010 Summer Reading Program “Make a Splash READ!” Funding and support for the statewide Rhode Island Summer Reading Program includes a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services through the RI Office of Library and Information Services, McDonald’s Local Owner/Operators of Rhode Island with local support including the Friends of the Cumberland Public Library. This exciting program is for children ages 4-12. Tickets will be available in the Children’s Room starting Saturday, July 31, 2010 and a nominal fee of $0.50 will be charged for individual admission.
