Saturday, June 19th – Friday, August 6th
Ahoy readers! Set sail for the Cumberland Public Library’s 2010 summer reading program, “Make a Splash READ!” Children of preschool age through sixth grade are invited to join us as we discover an ocean of books, attend fabulous storytimes and live performances, create a sea of crafts and more. Most activities are free and open to the public. For the reading portion of the program, the children are asked to sign a Reading Contract. In signing this contract they promise to read or listen to and report on 5 or more books by Friday, August 6, 2010. Incentive coupons to visit various Rhode Island attractions will be given to the children as they read their books and report on them. Children who have completed their reading contracts will be awarded a Certificate of Completion, which they will have the opportunity to claim during our Open House to be held on August 13, 2010. What a great way to keep your children reading this summer! Funding and support for the statewide Rhode Island Summer Reading Program includes a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services through the RI Office of Library and Information Services, McDonald’s Local Owner/Operators of Rhode Island with local support including the Friends of the Cumberland Public Library.
