URI Master Gardeners Series: Soil, Soil Testing & Soil Amendments

Tuesday, May 12th  /  6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Community Room

The URI MGA Soil Testing program is an outreach service provided free of charge to RI citizens. The soil test provides a pH value and texture evaluation. With these soil test results, the homeowner will learn how to amend their soil to create a flourishing garden.

Free soil pH testing will be done at this lecture.
What to bring for soil test:
* Take one sample from each type of garden (i.e. veggie, lawn perennials, etc.).
* Dig up a spade full of soil about 2-3″ deep from 3-4 sections of the garden(s).
* Dry soil on white paper towel if time permits.
* Put soil in zip lock bag with your name, address, and type of garden(s) written on the bag(s).

The URI Master Gardener Lecture Series runs bi-weekly from March 3, 2009 to May 26, 2009 and offers gardening tips and advice on a variety of topics

Registration assures you a seat: (401) 333-2552, x2
