The Summer Reading Program “Catch the Reading Bug!“ will begin on Tuesday, June 24th. Children who are preschool age through sixth grade may register for this fun-filled program in the Children’s Room. Children are asked to sign a Reading Contract to participate. In signing this contract they promise to read or listen to and report on 5 or more books by Friday, August 8th. When they come into the library to report they will answer one question about the book they read or listened to.
Incentive coupons to visit RI attractions will be given to the children as they read their books and report on them. Children who have completed their reading contracts will be awarded a Certificate of Completion, which they will have the opportunity to claim during our Open House to be held on August 15th.
This exciting program is sponsored by The RI Office of Library and Information Services, The Institute of Museum & Library Services, McDonald’s Restaurants of Rhode Island, Friends of the Cumberland Public Library and the Library Board of Trustees.
