The Sports Museum

The Friends of the Cumberland Library have generously donated another pass to an area museum.  The Sports Museum is located in TD Gardens in Boston and features exhibits celebrating the legends of Boston area sports.  We have two passes for each day and each pass admits 6 people free!  What a deal!

Painting with Acrylic or Oil Workshop

Friday, February 26th  /   12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Students will learn a variety of painting techniques to create a sunset landscape painting on canvas (please bring a small canvas - 8″ X 10″). Germaine Gerie will demonstrate all aspects of painting. The plan is to complete a painting in the workshop!

Beginning and intermediate artists are welcome to join. Students will value the principles and techniques taught to achieve realistic results in their paintings. Technique is taught - style is a personal development. Germaine encourages individual style.

Fee: $20, payable in advance at in-person registration at the Reference Desk.

Stretch, Relax & Learn

In these four Friday morning classes: February 26, March 5, 12 & 19, 2010, you will stretch the major muscle groups of your body and learn relaxation and breathing techniques to relieve stress. You will also learn how to exercise safely, for your body and life. Basic nutrition and a healthy lifestyle will be discussed.

Please bring a towel or mat for lying on the floor, drinking water and any questions you have. Dress in lightweight, comfortable layered clothing that allows your body to move and “breathe.” When finished with this class you will feel good - maybe even great!

Germaine Gerie Krobath has been teaching group exercise classes since 1994. Her education and experience enables her to successfully teach to a wide variety of fitness levels in one class. While encouraging class participants to challenge themselves, the main focus is on safety through proper body form and execution.

Fee: $20 for the entire session of 4 classes, payable in advance upon in-person registration. Maximum: 40.

Daytime Book Discussion
