For years, people have asked us why books are not in the same section and why the spine labels don’t make any sense for browsing. We heard you!!! And, we are doing something about it!
We are moving the nonfiction collection to a new system that will make finding the books easier and browsing the collection fun!
What does this mean for you? Not much right now. The books will be available throughout this process. At times, sections may be on a different area of the shelf or on carts at the desk as we prepare for the big move.
There are A LOT of books (21,000), so it is going to take us some time to get it completed, but we are hoping to be done by the end of June. This is only the nonfiction section, so the novels and other collections on the second floor will not be affected. As always, we are here to help and answer your questions.
Most importantly, we want to hear your thoughts! We are doing this for you, so your voice counts. Each week, we will have questions set up on the table near the 2nd floor elevator to get feedback about certain aspects of the collection and how you would like to use it. There will also be more information about how the transition will occur and where we are in the process.
Check back here for more details and pictures in the next few months. We can’t wait to show you the finished section!
